4 Ways to Prep for Senior Photoshoot | Central Texas

Congratulations! You’ve made it to your Senior Year! This is such an exciting time and I know you want to enjoy all of it! Since you’ve decided to have a Senior Photoshoot, you’ve been wondering how to prepare yourself so you can get the best photos possible. Well I’m here to help you get just that! Keep reading to find out exactly how.

#1 Wardrobe

When selecting your attire, prioritize comfort and confidence. Opt for clothes that make you feel at ease and self-assured. Avoid overly conspicuous brand names and instead lean towards timeless, classic choices. It’s advisable to bring along multiple options to your photoshoot. Your photographer can provide valuable input on which outfits would complement specific locations and settings. Remember to pack more clothing options than you initially think you’ll need.

Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase your interests and involvements. Whether you’re passionate about baseball or theater, let your clothing reflect that side of your personality. Incorporate elements of your hobbies or activities into your outfit choices, allowing them to shine through in the photos.

Remember, the goal is to select clothing that not only makes you look good but also tells a story about who you are.

For a 90 minute shoot, I would suggest bringing 5 solid wardrobe choices and 2 extras.

#2 Skin

Did you know that your skin follows a natural cycle of approximately 30 days for complete regeneration? Understanding this can help you manage your skin concerns effectively. For instance, if a pimple appears on your skin, it typically takes around 30 days to fully heal and disappear. This knowledge underscores the importance of maintaining a consistent skincare routine, especially when you have an upcoming photoshoot.

Keeping your skincare routine at the forefront of your mind is crucial as the photoshoot approaches. Prioritize gentle and effective skincare practices to ensure your skin looks its best. Instead of resorting to squeezing or picking at pimples, which can lead to long-term scarring, focus on treating them with appropriate topical solutions. This approach promotes healthier skin and minimizes the risk of blemishes interfering with your desired look for the photoshoot.

Remember, a well-maintained skincare routine is an investment in your skin’s health and appearance, allowing you to confidently showcase your natural beauty during the photoshoot.

Consult your Dermatologist a few months before your shoot if you have concerns about your skin health.

#2.5 Makeup

In addition to taking care of your skin, it’s worth considering a makeup consultation before your photoshoot. A professional makeup artist can work wonders by color matching your foundation and providing valuable tips to enhance your natural features, ensuring you look your absolute best for your Senior Photoshoot. The right makeup application can help even out your skin tone, highlight your best features, and create a flawless finish that translates beautifully in photographs.

However, it’s important to exercise caution when it comes to introducing new makeup products into your routine. Avoid the temptation of trying out brand new makeup on the day of your shoot. Instead, schedule a practice session after your makeup consultation. This will allow you to familiarize yourself with the application techniques demonstrated by the makeup artist and build confidence in your own skills. By practicing beforehand, you’ll become a pro at applying your makeup, guaranteeing a polished and consistent look for your photoshoot.

Remember, a makeup consultation can provide invaluable guidance tailored to your unique features, ensuring you achieve a stunning and camera-ready appearance for your Senior Photoshoot.

Department Stores, Ulta, and Sephora will do full face makeup. Just make an appointment. Make sure you let them know that you’re about to be photographed.

#3 Hair

In addition to your makeup, it’s also important to consider your hair when preparing for your photoshoot. If you’re planning to make any changes to your hairstyle, such as cutting or coloring your hair, it’s best to do so well in advance of the photoshoot, rather than on the same day. Giving yourself time to get accustomed to your new look is crucial, as it allows you to feel more confident and comfortable in front of the camera.

When you make significant changes to your hair, it can take some time to adjust to the new “you.” By making the changes ahead of time, you have the opportunity to experiment with different styling techniques and learn how to best showcase your new hairstyle during the photoshoot. This familiarity will help you exude confidence, which can significantly impact the overall outcome of your photos.

It’s important to note that feeling uncertain or uneasy about your new look can have a noticeable effect on your confidence during the shoot. To ensure you’re at your best, both mentally and physically, take the time to embrace and embrace your hairstyle well before the photoshoot. This way, you can step in front of the camera with a renewed sense of self-assurance and showcase your unique beauty with poise and radiance.

Getting a Blow out the day of your photoshoot is the best way to go!

Meaning I will do beauty retouching and remove your blemishes that aren’t completely covered or stand out. I use a light hand so in the end you don’t look like a plastic doll, you look like the best version of you! So good in fact you’ll really want to show your friends and family how awesome you look!
