Do these two look a little familiar? Well they should! I shot their proposal a few weeks ago! Here’s a link to see what happened during the Proposal.
I love it when couples’ choose locations that are so meaningful to their relationship story. Josh and Bethy lived right around the corner from here and probably drank coffee while people watching. Can you imagine looking out your window and seeing this scene everyday? The weather even cooperated with us! It was warm enough for short sleeves and cooled off perfectly for them to keep each other warm.
Their romantic snuggles were authentic. I gave them a couple things to think about during the shoot and they were absolute naturals in front of the camera. If you don’t feel this comfortable, don’t worry! I work with couples at every level of comfort.
During their Proposal we lost the light faster than anticipated so we rescheduled the remaining engagement session for a second location. Josh and Bethy both work in DC and have spent a lot of time at The Capitol Building and surrounding grounds so it seemed fitting to include it in their story.
We really lucked out! Hardly anyone was hanging around the Capitol Building on a Friday night and we both got parking on third street which doesn’t get any closer. Parking in DC is always a pain, so this was a welcome surprise. If you’re thinking about shooting at this location, please know that you’ll need a permit from The Capitol Police and this is the only location they allow. I was a bit bummed at first, but after working it I feel pretty pleased.
These two are completely smitten with each other so that made this session extra fun. As I gave them different directions, Josh would do it the silly way first which would make Bethy laugh and then they’d settle into it. I love that their expressions are true to them. They really are laughing and not just smiling.
Sunset engagement sessions are lovely and can provide a variety of looks. We started earlier in the day to make sure we were ready for sunset. I love how blue the sky was and how the colors began to change into more warmth until it absolutely faded.
Thank you to Josh and Bethy for trusting me to capture this special time in your lives. I hope that you always look back on these photos with fondness and joy. It was a pleasure working with you both and I wish you all the best!
